Getting the Most Out of Your Personal Reading Lists

Lists that you have created on your Troy Public Library account can be viewed by logging in to your account, then following these steps:

- Click on Search (located in the light blue bar across the top of the page)change list

- Select My Lists from the dropdown menu

- You will see the lists you have created in the box called My Lists under the heading Saved Title Lists on the left of the screen. Click on the title of the list you wish to view. 

- Change the list you are viewing by clicking on the dropdown menu under Show List and selecting a different list title.list format

- Change the format in which your list if viewed by cllicking on the dropdown menu under Format and selecting the desired display.

Come to the Adult Information Department of Troy Public Library to check out a display highlighting all things Jane Austen. Are you an Austen fan looking for a classic read? You will find copies of all of Jane's works along with their film interpretations on this display.

Interested in a fresh take on an Austen story? Look for spinoffs in genres ranging from mystery to zombie, including Death Comes to Pemberley and Pride & Prejudice and Zombies. The Private Diary of Mr. Darcy: a Novel is a must for fans of the dreamy Mr. Darcy! Click here to browse these great titles.

Mighty Girls

Super GirlBilled as "The world's largest collection of books, toys and movies for smart, confident, and courageous girls," A Mighty Girl is a website devoted to providing information and material for girls of all ages. While adventure books focusing on male characters have been popular for years, A Mighty Girl aims to provide resources that show female characters in lead and confident roles.

Promoting strength and courage in all children at a young age can build a more confident young adult. The Troy Public Library has many resources that highlight strong female characters, including books, magazines, music, DVDs, and more. Check them out and show young readers they can be just as mighty!

Dr. Strangelove at the Library

Beat the winter blahs by having some laughs at the Troy Library’s Winter 2013 Film Series, featuring some of the American Film Institute’s top 100 Comedies of All Time. The films will be shown on the third Sunday of each month, February through April, in the Library’s meeting room.

On March 17, at 1:30 pm, we will be showing Dr. Strangelove: or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964), starring Peter Sellers and George C. Scott.

On February 17, at 1:30 pm, we will be showing Some Like It Hot (1959), starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon.

Art Inside Out at the Troy Library

DIA Inside Out

The Detroit Institute of Arts' Inside/Out Program brings 80 reproductions of masterpieces from the DIA’s collection to the streets of metro Detroit. This year, the Program will be on the Troy Civic Center campus, with art displayed at the Library, City Hall and Community Center.

In conjunction with this Program, the Troy Public Library will host a series of events throughout August and September, for adults, children and families. All the events below will take place in the Library Meeting Room, unless otherwise specified.
